Kirk Herbstreit’s Son Hospitalized: Sports Analyst Appreciates the Support

It’s been a tough start to the week for Kirk Herbstreit and his family. According to Columbus’ ABC 6 News, Kirk Herbstreit’s son, Zak, was taken to the hospital on Tuesday. 

Zak plays football for Ohio State Buckeyes, where his dad used to play too. Thankfully, Zak is in stable condition and being looked after at Wexner Medical Center. The doctors are keeping a close eye on him and he said to be out of danger now.

Zack shared a statement through his father Kirk Herbstriet on Twitter from which it appears to be a heart-related issue.

Zack said in the statement:

“I have had a bit of a setback these past couple of weeks. Not feeling right. Culminated with tests results this past Friday that forced me into the hospital. I have some of the best cardiologists looking after me, and I am beyond appreciative. We are doing a number of tests and conjuring a plan to ensure that I will be able to be back to feeling normal again. I appreciate the overwhelming support over the past couple of days. I am feeling good and hope to be out of the hospital soon.”

Kirk Herbstreit shared a brief statement about Zak’s health and said that his family is grateful for everyone’s concern and prayers. It means a lot to them.

Zak has been part of the Ohio State football team since 2021. He is now in his second year with the Football Program. Even though he had offers from other colleges coming out of High School, he chose to follow in his dad and grandpa’s footsteps and play for Ohio State.

Before becoming a well-known sports broadcaster, Kirk Herbstreit was the starting quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes in 1992. Now, his focus is on supporting his son during this challenging time.

We hope and wish for a quick recovery for Zack Herbstreit.
