Kayla Nicole unfollowed Brittany Mahomes on social media earlier this year. Fans were perplexed by their ‘friendship separation’ because they were usually so close. Many speculated on the explanation, citing Travis Kelce’s current friendship with Taylor Swift.
Nicole wanted to move on and make a place for herself, making a point of addressing a few issues publicly. Kayla came to Instagram around a month after the unfollowing to speak about ‘friendship breakups,’ advising people on how to deal with them:
“Friendship breakups are difficult. However, it is a part of life. People aren’t always destined to be in your life for the long haul. Allow yourself time and space to mourn since losing that link may be terrible.”
“However, acknowledge the bounty and beauty of your remaining friendships.” Change your attention from what you’ve lost to what you’ve kept, and even more thrilling, the new friendships you’ve formed over time.”
Nicole, of course, avoided naming any individuals.
She also mentioned drowning out the noise, presumably alluding to internet trolls:
“‘More’ is never given by someone who has more. More affection. More happiness. More tranquillity.” “Misery enjoys company,” she concluded.
‘Hate’ is a reflection of a person’s self-worth. I’m not required to accept or entertain it.”
Kayla Nicole unfollowed Brittany Mahomes for what reason?
Kayla Nicole was questioned about Brittany Mahomes and their public divorce during an exclusive interview with PEOPLE. For months, the two had been close friends, even coming up to support one other following her separation from Travis Kelce.
Despite her desire for solitude, Nicole responded that she wanted to address a few issues publicly:
“I believe it is important to address this publicly because I did publicly unfollow people.” The truth is that I know these folks in real life. So, in real life, I’ve explained to these folks why I had to make these public judgments.”
She emphasized her developing ties with everyone and how her separation from Kelce did not mean the end of her friendships with Patrick and Brittany Mahomes.
She hoped, however, that everyone would accept her decision in the future:
“But I have to move forward in my life, and everyone has to respect that.” And ideally, when they appreciate that, it means they’ll stop including me in things that don’t concern me.”
Though Kayla has publicly addressed the issue, Brittany Mahomes has yet to do so. The fitness trainer has been spotted with Taylor Swift and the singer’s friends, drawing attention to Brittany Mahomes’ new buddy group.
