Justin Murray Returns to Raiders for Another Shot at NFL Glory
The Las Vegas Raiders have secured the services of offensive lineman Justin Murray with a reserve future contract
The Las Vegas Raiders have added offensive lineman Justin Murray to their roster with a reserve/future contract. This is Murray’s second stint with the Raiders, as he was previously signed by the team in 2018.
Murray has had an interesting journey in the NFL, entering the league as an undrafted free agent from the University of Cincinnati. He has bounced around from team to team, including stops with the Denver Broncos, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints, Cincinnati Bengals, and Arizona Cardinals Before finally being given a chance to play in the NFL with the Raiders.
During his time with the Cardinals, Justin Murray made 20 starts in 30 games, including 12 starts in the 2019-20 season. He then spent five games with the Buffalo Bills this past season before being released and eventually signed by the Raiders.
The 2023 NFL offseason is shaping up to be a busy one for the Raiders, as they are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market. The club has already signed 16 players to reserve/future contracts, including Murray, and the free-agent negotiation period will take place from March 13-15. Clubs will be able to contact and enter into contract negotiations with players who will become unrestricted free agents at the end of their current contracts.
With the 2023 NFL Draft coming up from April 27-29 and the NFL Scouting Combine happening from February 28-March 6, the Raiders will have many opportunities to improve their roster. The deadline to designate franchise or transition players is March 7, 2023, at 4 PM EST, and the 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period begins at 4 PM EST on March 15.
In conclusion, the return of Justin Murray to the Raiders is just one of the many moves that the team is expected to make this offseason. With the NFL Draft and free agency on the horizon, the Raiders are poised to continue building their roster and improving their team for the 2023 season.
