Jurgen Klopp whether Liverpool can come back against Real Madrid
Klopp hopeful of a comeback against Real Madrid in the second leg
After a 5-2 thrashing at Anfield in the first leg, the Reds will give it all to make a comeback in the reverse fixture at Bernabeu. It was one of the most embarrassing losses for Liverpool who scored 2 goals but then conceded 5.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men hold a firm grip on the tie as they have foot in the Champions League quarter-finals. However, in the Champions League surprises are bound to happen.
What did Jurgen Klopp have to say?
In a pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp said, “It’s Real Madrid, they are 3-0 up, it’s not something you want for Christmas. But we have nothing to lose.”
“If we can surprise ourselves in a negative way, then we should be able to surprise ourselves in a positive way too!
“It’s difficult because we probably won’t go through to the next leg. In this room, 100% of the people think we have no chance. If I’m the only one who thinks we have a little – I’m fine!
“Even if there’s only a 1% chance I’d like to give it a try.”
Liverpool’s record against Los Blancos has not been something to be proud of. The Reds have lost to Real Madrid in two Champions League final of 2018 and 2022. Now, the Reds have to win with at least a four-goal margin if they hope to advance into the competition.
