Jrue Holiday’s Wife Lauren Holiday’s Emotional Response to His Trade to Celtics
Jrue Holiday, the beloved Milwaukee Bucks player, recently found himself in a surprising trade deal for Damian Lillard.
After a brief stint with the Portland Trail Blazers, Jrue is now with the Boston Celtics. His wife, former U.S. soccer star Lauren Holiday, shared her feelings about this unexpected move on Instagram.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Lauren Holiday expressed how deeply the trade affected her, saying it “crushed” her. She talked about their family’s connection to Milwaukee, where their children had just started school, and where they had strong community ties.
Lauren described the shocking moment when Jrue woke up to the news of the trade, with no prior warning or discussion. It felt abrupt and impersonal, as if they were told to move on because “it’s not personal, it’s business.”
She disagreed with the idea that trades are purely business transactions. Lauren emphasized that they had given their all to the city they played for, going beyond the game itself.
“So, yes, this is more than just business,” she continued. “Not because we’re offended by it but because we are people. We’re humans. We have relationships, dreams, and a connection to where we play. As I write this, we are grieving the loss of that while celebrating the hope and the joy of what’s ahead.”
Jrue Holiday had a memorable championship win with the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2020-21 season, and there were minimal signs of the team looking to trade the 33-year-old at the time.
Now, he finds himself on his fourth team in his career. While relocating a family and starting anew is always a challenge, Jrue Holiday has an opportunity to make a significant contribution to another title-contending team, the Boston Celtics.
