Jose Mourinho does not consider Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the GOATs in football
Jose Mourinho, the AS Roma manager, feels that neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Lionel Messi is the greatest player of all time. He considers Ronaldo Nazario the greatest player.
The duo has ruled the GOAT discussion for over a decade now, and they have seen a good career for various clubs and countries.
Jose Mourinho’s talked about Nazario
Football fans have always considered the players the best and greatest players of all time. However, Mourinho is not of the same opinion, he opined that the answer to who is the best player is not the Portuguese superstar nor the Argentine star.
He chose Brazil legend Ronaldo Nazario, whom he has spent a little time with, who has worked with him at Barcelona.
The AS Roma manager, Mourinho spoke in the LiveScore and said:
“Ronaldo, El Fenomeno. Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi have had longer careers, and they have remained at the top every day for 15 years. However, if we are talking strictly about talent and skill, nobody surpasses Ronaldo [Nazario].
“When he was at Barcelona with Bobby Robson, I realized that he was the best player I’d ever seen take to the field. Injuries killed a career that could have been even more incredible, but the talent that that 19-year-old boy had was something incredible.”
In 1996-1997 Ronaldo played for one season with the Catalans. He scored 47 goals in 49 games for the team. Barcelona sold him to Inter Milan for £19.5 million and thereby set a new transfer record.
In 2002 he brought Brazil the fifth World Cup title.
His club career ended by winning 11 titles, and 352 goals in 518 appearances. He also scored 62 strikes with Selecao in 98 games.
