Jordan Poole Trading For Chris Paul News Gets a Blunt Reaction from Steve Kerr
The latest news of the Golden State Warriors trading Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards to get their hands on Chris Paul caused a huge stir on the internet. Many fans and officials gave their reaction to this news including Steve Kerr.
It was really surprising news because the Warriors had a big contract with Poole worth $128 million just one year ago. It’s not common to see a 24-year-old player who was once seen as the future of the team being traded for a 38-year-old player only who played in 59 games the previous year.
Due to this Warriors head coach Steve Kerr offered a blunt assessment as to why the organization ultimately decided to make this move On Friday.
“We sensed we needed a shift,” Kerr told Tim Kawakami of The Athletic. “Didn’t mean we needed an overhaul, but we needed a shift of some sort.
“I think everybody in the organization sensed that. And it feels like we’ve made a pretty significant shift without giving up our identity and our sense of who we are as a team. I think, all in all, it’s a very positive shift.”
Paul, for his part, seems excited about the future. He said this week that he had already spoken to Stephen Curry and that their talk “was good.”
That being said, we can’t ignore the other things that might have influenced Golden State’s decision. Jordan Poole had been getting more and more frustrated with his role on the Warriors, and he was openly expressing his feelings. This, along with the situation involving Draymond Green, was creating a difficult environment.
As soon as Poole found out about the trade, he made a noticeable response. It will be interesting to see if he prefers playing in Washington, especially considering what the team has planned for him.
Regarding Chris Paul and the Warriors, only time will tell how their relationship works out. They may not seem like the best fit, and it may not make a lot of sense in the long term. However, Golden State has proven itself and deserves the benefit of the doubt.
Will Steve Kerr, Stephen Curry, and Chris Paul find a way to make this experiment successful for everyone involved? We will find out in the upcoming season.
