Jon Rahm had an “incredible moment” by establishing a golf garden in a Madrid hospital
No golf fan will be shocked to learn that Jon Rahm is participating in a humanitarian endeavor. The Spaniard’s career has been distinguished by charitable activity, and a poignant gesture occurred this week.
Jon Rahm dedicated a golf garden in the Nio Jesus Hospital’s recreation area in Madrid, Spain, on Wednesday. The player characterized the occurrence as an “incredible moment.”
A video uploaded on social media shows Jon Rahm taking part in the inauguration’s ceremonial events. He was also seen playing golf and signing autographs for some of the hospitalized youngsters.
This is what Jon Rahm said for the DP World Tour News Service:
“It was an incredible moment… It was an honour to be there and be a part of the opening… It is not only a children’s hospital, a lot of it is going to be allocated for children who have cancer… Out of 60 kids on that wing, only 10 could make it outside because they were in good enough health. They are always the happiest kids I know. It puts our problems very much in perspective, and it was truly special to be a part of it.”
The Nio Jesus Hospital’s golf garden features four holes with varying styles and sizes. They feature artificial grass and are positioned in the hospital’s outdoor entertainment area, an area of 800 square meters for the young patients to play.
Ramon Barrenechea, a previous president of the Biscayan Golf Federation who died in 2022 at the age of 58, was the inspiration for the initiative. Jon Rahm and JP McManus, an Irish billionaire, co-founded it.
Jon Rahm’s charitable efforts
Throughout his career, the Spaniard has been involved in several humanitarian activities, giving his name or contributing his time, effort, and resources to specific organizations.
The Jon Rahm Golf4Kids Foundation, for example, attempts to generate funding for programs that benefit children via golf. It collaborates with other organizations, such as the Aladina Foundation, which also helped to create the golf garden at the Nio Jesus Hospital.
In addition, Rahm has worked with the Kisner Foundation, which raises cash for children in need of physical and mental health care. To that purpose, the 2023 Masters champion has given a number of things for sale.
Rahm is also an enthusiastic and dedicated member of the Seve Ballesteros Foundation. The Foundation’s purpose is to promote the principles of golf to young people while generating funding for brain cancer research.
