Rafael Nadal‘s retirement date has been subject to several forecasts, but things have heated up this week, and John McEnroe is the most recent to weigh in.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion Nadal will turn 37 in June, and although he is the first to confess that he is unsure of how long he will remain at the top of tennis, this hasn’t stopped other players, former players, analysts, and fans from making predictions about his future.
This week, world No. 13 Alexander Zverev added to the controversy by speculating that the Spaniard might retire following this year’s French Open.

What Nadal Said in Response
The Spaniard, though, has denied any notion of retirement and has ruled it out altogether.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen in six months,” he said
He further added, “I have a very good relationship with Zverev, but not enough to confess something like that to him. The reality is that I’m here to play tennis, try to have a great 2023, fight for everything that I have struggled with throughout my career and I don’t think about my retirement.”
