Joe Cole claims Lionel Messi has surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo and Diego Maradona- “I think he’s the greatest player of all time”
Joe Cole, the Chelsea legend said that the PSG attacker Lionel Messi has successfully surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo and Diego Maradona, and is the greatest player of all time.
Cole even put forth the debate over the Argentine icon and Ronaldo to bed by winning the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. He ranked the Paris Saint Germain Lionel Messi on the top, even above the late Maradona.
Joe Cole spoke on BT Sport-
“There’s always a debate. What he has put to bed is the debate about this generation because he’s won it all.”
He continued by taking the talk to Messi’s performances during the FIFA World Cup. The forward scored seven goals and three assists in 7 games, taking with him the Golden Ball Award and the glittery Trophy:
“Earlier on in the tournament, he was struggling, and there were question marks. But he carried them. I’ve never seen a player like him – I think he’s the greatest player of all time; only Pele has a case against him. I think he stands next to him – not Ronaldo or Maradona, above them.”
Messi is the best player
Lionel Messi continues to stand as the best player of all time in history. He has not just won the heart of Argentina but also has brought success to PSG. He bagged 15 goals and 14 assists in 25 games. His total club career is 704 goals and 333 assists in 859 games. Messi won the Ballon d’Or record seven times. Though his all-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo is nearing him in his career record. But he had a poor World Cup Campaign.
