At the age of 82, a former legend and star player of the New York Jets, Jim Turner passed away. According to the news, Turner suffered from a heart attack failure with his family by his side. He kicked three field goals for the New York Jets in their momentous Super Bowl III

Turner was drafted by Washington in the 19th round of the 1963 draft. The following year, the Jets decided to take him. In the Jets’ winning season of 1968, Turner made an impressive 145 points by kicking the ball through the goalposts 34 times, which set a new record at that time.

During Super Bowl III where Baltimore Colts were having a tough time and were on the verge of defeat, Turner emerged as a hero and scored 10 points in the Joe Namath-led 16-7 win on field goals of 32, 30, and 9. After that, in 1971 he joined the Broncos on the place of Bobby Howfield via a straight-up kicker trade. In the Broncos he accomplishes many great things and sets new kicker records. His records were at a high point that no one was able to break them for 30 years until Jason Elam’s outstanding play.

During his time with the Broncos, he was the all-time best leader, best record holder, and also the best scorer. He had the best field goal record of 151. He also became a member of the Ring of Fame with the Broncos. And the shocking thing is that during all the time in his career, he never missed a single game and completed a total of 228 consecutive games played.
