Miles Killebrew and Harmon Killebrew were both great in their respective sports, with one dominating on the gridiron and the other a baseball legend.

Despite having the same surname, Miles and Harmon Killebrew are not related. Miles, his father, and his mother have no family ties to Harmon Killebrew’s family. They share a last name, but that’s about all they have in common.

Harmon Killebrew is a baseball legend, having been considered into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984.

Harmon Killebrew played with the Washington Senators / Minnesota Twins for all but one year of his storied career, becoming a franchise legend in the process. He finished his career with a single season with the Kansas City Royals. Killebrew was one of the most dangerous players in the Oval. The prodigious batter garnered 13 All-Star Game appearances, the 1969 American League MVP Award, six AL home run leader honors, and three AL RBI leader trophies.

Harmon Killebrew achieved legendary status in Minnesota because, when he retired, he was perhaps the team’s finest player in its history. Killebrew’s No. 3 Twins jersey has been retired, he is a member of the Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame, and he still owns multiple team records.

Harmon Killebrew was known for his fast hands and tremendous upper-body power, which helped him stay productive in the MLB for over two decades. Killebrew was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984, less than a decade after retiring from baseball.

Miles Killebrew’s NFL Career

Miles Killebrew, on the other hand, is in the midst of carving up a wonderful legacy on the gridiron. The Detroit Lions selected the Southern Utah graduate in the 4th round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Miles Killebrew played with the Lions from 2016 to 2020, establishing himself as a reliable component of their secondary unit. Killebrew’s career in Detroit was probably highlighted by his conversion to linebacker with the arrival of Matt Patricia and a new defensive system in 2018.

Miles Killebrew departed the Detroit Lions prior to the 2021 NFL season to join the Pittsburgh Steelers. Killebrew signed a two-year, $4 million contract deal with the organization in March 2022, cementing his short-term future to Mike Tomlin’s team.
