IPL AUCTION 2022: Rashid, KL, Iyer, who among the released players is going to be the choice for Lucknow and Ahmedabad?

The pre-existing franchises have decided and announced their retentions as well as the released players. The BCCI has given the deadline to the franchises of 30th Nov. after which from 1st-25th Dec. the 2 new teams-Lucknow and Ahmedabad can sign the players from the released lot. 

The MI, SRH, KXIP, KKR, CSK, MI, RCB, DC have announced their retentions and released players, the franchise’s auction purse was filled with the total amount of 90 crores (INR). 

The released player’s lists are like this so far:

Faf du Plessis, Dwayne Bravo, Suresh Raina, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Shreyas Iyer, Avesh Khan, Kagiso Rabada, R Ashwin, Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Trent Boult, Rahul Chahar, Rashid Khan, David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey, Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, David Miller, Chris Morris, Liam Livingstone, Eoin Morgan, Shubman Gill, Lockie Ferguson, Nitish Rana, KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Ravi Bishnoi, Nicholas Pooran, Shahrukh Khan, Devdutt Padikkal, Yuzvendra Chahal, Harshal Patel, Washington Sundar.

Releasing Shreyas Iyer and R Ashwin was a shocking move from Delhi Capitals looking at Iyer’s performance with the white ball, retainers could have considered him. Instead of Iyer’s retention, Delhi Capitals have spent money on:

Rishabh Pant (16 crores), Axar Patel (9 crores, 12 crores to be deducted from purse), Prithvi Shaw (7.5 crores, 8 crores to be deducted from purse), Anrich Nortje (6.5 crores). 

And the balance amount left is 47.5 crores.

The question that arises here is who among the Indian players who have performed way too well in the recent Test series against New Zealand 2021 in Kanpur, is going to be the first choice of the two new teams- Lucknow and Ahmedabad?

Whereas Rashid Khan and David Warner who has been commendable in the now-concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2021 are also the released players of SRH. The Player of the Tournament has been incredible and so was his comeback form. 

The two teams have to choose from the wide pool of talent around them. They have many choices to choose from, to make a team of players that brings them advantages at its best. Let’s see now which team hits its masterstroke and signs the best player.
