India Women’s Blind Cricket Team Secures Gold by Defeating Australia in IBSA World Games 2023 Final

A really special moment happened for India. The women’s blind cricket team won against Australia in the final match of the IBSA World Games 2023. This happened on Saturday, August 26. The Indian women’s team played a T20 match against Australia at England’s Edgbaston cricket ground and they won by nine wickets using a method called DLS.

It’s the first time that cricket was part of the IBSA World Games, and both India’s men’s and women’s blind teams reached the finals, which is a big deal. Now, the women’s team has made India even prouder by winning a gold medal on the global stage. They did really well both in batting and bowling.

Australia scored 115 runs with eight players out while batting first. Some of their batters like Lewis and Welbeck did a decent job. India’s players Deepika, Davis, and Tudu got one wicket each, and the rest of the wickets were from run-out situations.

During India’s turn to bat, it started raining when they were chasing the score. Even though they lost one player, Neelappa, at a low score, Deepika did great and scored 18* runs before the rain stopped the game. Using the DLS method, India won the match and made history by getting their first gold medal.
