Ian Rapoport talks about Sean Payton’s interviews
Sean Payton is one of the best coaches available in the market, but there seems to be no perfect fit available for him. Several teams have interviewed him but he has not come to any decision as of now.
Seems like the NFL is going through the slowest hiring cycle. There are so many teams who completed the first round of interviews with Payton but did not book the second round.
Rapoport reports Payton’s interviews
Ian Rapoport, the NFL insider said, “As of right now, it does not seem like there is a place for Sean Payton. We’ll see, but it does not seem like there is a place in the coaching world right now.”
According to Rapoport, various teams including the Texans, Panthers, and Broncos have moved to second interviews in their search for a good coach. But none has booked Payton for his second interview. For the Broncos, they seem to be inclined elsewhere, Panthers have three players on the list- Kellen Moore, Frank Reich, and Steve Wilks. The Texans, on the other hand, have not revealed whether or not they will go for a second interview with Payton.
Payton is done with his first interview with the Cardinals, and he may go in the second round with them.
Rapoport says that there seems to be no suitable place for Sean Payton right now.
The teams are least interested in Payton. It is on him to get signed by a team; otherwise, he will not be able to return as a coach in 2023.
