“I don’t really think that Novak Djokovic is going to stop,” said Alexander Zverev
Alexander Zverev claims that 36-year-old Novak Djokovic still seems unbeatable. Speaking on November 12, the Serb defeated Holger Rune in the 2023 ATP Finals to earn his ninth consecutive year-end No. 1 ranking.
In his opening group-stage match in the year-end tournament in Turin, Italy, the German came out on top, defeating World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz. He overcame a set down to deny his opponent, who is 20 years old, and won the victory, winning 6-7(3), 6-3, and 6-4.
After that, Zverev went to a news conference when he was questioned about how Novak Djokovic was still in such terrific shape after all these years. He claimed that the main reason for this is that the 24-time Grand Slam winner takes excellent care of his body, which has greatly extended his life.
“Among all the players, he is the one that takes the finest care of his body. He performs his rituals almost daily. Taking care of himself is his top concern, coming before anything else. He stated, “I believe he’s done incredibly well doing that over the last few years.”
Djokovic doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, according to the former US Open finalist, and he could even be in “better shape” than he was ten years ago.
“He hooks like he’s 26, 27 years old, but I think he’s 36. Ten years later, he may be in even better form. Alexander Zverev remarked, “It doesn’t really seem like he’s going to stop.”
