How to Upgrade Your Exosuit in No Man’s Sky?
No Man’s Sky is a massive open-world game that requires players to survive in various harsh environments while exploring millions of different planets. To stay alive, it’s essential to upgrade your exosuit, which is your primary tool for survival. Whether you’re dealing with scorching heat, freezing cold, or hostile creatures, the right upgrades can make all the difference.
Ways to Upgrade Your Exosuit in No Man’s Sky
At the start of the game, every player is given a default exosuit with 24 cargo slots and 10 technology slots. While this may be enough to get you started, you’ll quickly find yourself needing more storage and improved technology to survive in the game’s vast and dangerous universe. Three of the technology slots are pre-equipped with essential survival tech that you’ll need to stay alive: Life Support, Hazard Protection, and Jetpack.
There are two ways to upgrade your Exosuit, here they are
#1 Upgrading Your Exosuit Inventory Space
Inventory storage is limited early on in the game, and you’ll quickly find that the default number of slots in your exosuit is not enough. To increase your inventory space, you can find inventory space upgrades throughout the game. You can purchase upgrades up to a total of 35, with the first upgrade costing 10,000 units and the last upgrade costing 350,000 units. To maximize the number of slots in your exosuit, you’ll need 6,300,000 units.
To obtain an inventory upgrade for your exosuit, you can do one of the following:
- First, Purchase one on the space station of your current star system (one per star system).
- Or, Purchase one on the Space Anomaly (one per star system).
- Find and repair Drop Pods on planets
Note that the price of subsequent upgrades goes up incrementally, so you’ll need more units each time. If you want to save money, check out our guide on “No Man’s Sky: How to Make Money.“
#2 Upgrading Your Exosuit Technology
In addition to upgrading your inventory space, you can also upgrade the technology installed in your exosuit. This will give you an advantage in combat, exploration, and resource gathering. There are two types of upgrades for exosuit technology:
Upgrade Modules
One-use upgrade modules take up space in your inventory and are only used once. They increase the stats of the matching technology when placed next to them. Higher-class upgrade modules provide better stat enhancements. Upgrade modules can be purchased from technology dealers in space stations occupied by Nanites, or they are sometimes found at specific places of interest on a planet’s surface.
Technology Blueprints
Technology blueprints allow you to construct improvements yourself. If you’re looking to install new or improved tech in your exosuit, you want to find yourself blueprints rather than upgrades. The easiest way to get exosuit technology blueprints is from the Space Anomaly. These blueprints are offered for sale in the back room by a seller called Iteration: Selene in exchange for Nanites. You can obtain blueprints for upgrades to your jetpack, shields, and life support systems in addition to tools like a Personal Refiner that will enable you to make items while you’re on the road. You can also find blueprints for exosuit technology in points of interest on planets and occasionally as rewards for talking to NPCs.
By following these upgrade paths, you can greatly improve your chances of survival and make your way through No Man’s Sky with ease.
