Hazard wants to prove his worth at Real Madrid
Eden Hazard sees his future at Real Madrid
Hazard jumped ship from the Premier League to LaLiga in 2019 when Real Madrid signed him from Chelsea for a reported €100 million and €60 million in future add-ons.
During his time at Bernabeu, Hazard failed to justify his pricetag and was not able match expectations set by his predecessor, Cristiano Ronaldo. Due to poor form and being injury prone, the Belgium lost his place to Vinicius Jr early on in his Madrid career.
What did Eden Hazard have to say?
Eden Hazard spoke to RTBF: “For me, I will still be at Real Madrid next season — but you never know.”
“I want to play, to be on the pitch, to feel important. When you feel important, you have the confidence, you have the fans on your side, it’s easier then.
“When you know you’re the best, you’ll obviously make some mistakes, but people will understand you. When it’s getting tough, people are reluctant that you can play well. How to get out? Play, find pleasure, have game time, make mistakes but then succeed and regain confidence.
“I miss it, I want to play. I want to have fun on the pitch. Training is good, but what keeps us [players] alive are the matches. Deep inside me, I hope that I can bring something to the team and that the coach is still counting on me, I hope. We’ll see if I’m going to play at the end of the season.
“It’s been three months since the coach played me the last time. I doubt a little. It’s up to me to show him in training that he can call on me.
“My explanation for what’s happening is that he has players who play well, that the team wins and that it is difficult to change it. I probably deserve less in his eyes than others. You should ask him [Ancelotti].”
This season, Eden Hazard has contributed a goal and an assist in 7 appearances so far. He is in the final year of his contract, however, whether Los Blancos offer him a new deal or not remains to be seen.
