Has Arsenal thrown away their Premier League winning chances?
Arsenal enjoyed the entirety of the season so far on top of the Premier League table. However, they have lost their top spot following a loss to Manchester City which was the third win-less game for the Gunners.
Football is unpredictable after all. Arsenal was once eight points ahead of second-placed Manchester City. However, that gap has since been covered as the Citizens have replaced Arsenal as league leaders.
Mikel Arteta, who was earlier Pep Guardiola’s assistant had a golden opportunity to make a strong statement. But the master got the better of the apprentice as Pep took the win at the Emirates Stadium.
Victory would have meant a great deal to the Gunners who would have gone six points clear. However, the 3-1 loss has raised eyebrows over Arteta and his tactics.
The social media has been ranting ever since with some claiming that Arsenal has ‘bottled’ the league title. A fact that Arteta has denied.
What did Arteta have to say?
“Psychologically, there is a marathon still,” the Spaniard said. “There is very far to go.”
“I said it at the start, I said it three months ago and I say it today, it’s about tomorrow. The most important thing is how we are tomorrow and focus on that.”
