His father ran a small financial business in Surat which he shut down and moved to Vadodara when Hardik was five years old. Hardik’s father enrolled his sons, Hardik and Krunal, in Kiran More’s cricket academy in Vadodara, where they learned and trained in professional cricket. Hardik’s family lived in a rented house in Gorwa, Vadodara and his father used to drop them at the cricket ground in a second-hand car.

Hardik Pandya attended MK High School until the ninth standard before dropping out to focus on his cricket career. Hardik was quite impressive in junior-level cricket and won many matches single-handedly in Club cricket. He stated in an interview with Indian Express about his attitude problems due to which he was dropped out from his state age-group teams.

Firstly, Hardik Pandya used to bowl leg-spin but in a local league match, his team was short of one fast bowling option. Therefore, on the advice of his coach he changed his bowling action to medium-fast bowling which worked for his qualification for the Baroda state team.
