Graham Potter stated why Chelsea’s star Mykhailo Mudryk was replaced during halftime due to injury concerns
Mykhailo Mudryk was substituted by January signing, Noni Madueke on Friday while playing against Fulham. Chelsea manager Graham Potter said that the player had a cold.
Chelsea’s game against Fulham was the first start for Mudryk. He went through a tough time with the club. He was not active most of the time during the game. And at half-time, he was replaced by another player, Noni Madueke.
What did Potter say about Mudryk’s replacement?
This sudden replacement of the player piqued everyone’s curiosity. The fans were surprised and thought that Mudryk might have suffered an injury. The former Manchester United defender Gary Neville said on Sky Sports, “I didn’t think he would, but he has (subbed Mudryk off); it’s a brave one. Certainly does not help the confidence of a new signing.”
Neville had questions about the substitution and asked whether Mudryk got injured. The manager Potter opened up and said, “Mudryk had a cold.”
It is clear from Potter’s statement that Mudryk was not injured though he got ill during the game and had to leave at half-time, leaving no choice but an immediate replacement.
Mudryk played for 45 minutes and could not get any shots or key passes and had only 19 touches of the ball. Also, out of six duels he managed to win only one.
