Golden State Warriors Coach Steve Kerr demands for shorter NBA season
With the Golden State Warriors in action, everyone eagerly waits to see the most entertaining players on the court. Fans carry a lot of excitement to see some of the best players perform in the game. But this time the Warriors’ best players were resting.
On the second back-to-back night against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kerr decided to rest Klay Thompson, Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Andrew Wiggins.
Coach Kerr on resting his “big 4”
Steve Kerr, the Warriors coach, rested these four starters as he wanted to prevent them from further hurting and enhance the players’ performances in the forthcoming games. With Curry battling a shoulder injury, Kerr did not want the player to get any more injuries.
No one, including Kerr, is happy to see something like this happening, but there was no other way he could enhance his team’s performance.
Kerr sympathized with the fan and said:
“I feel terrible for fans who buy tickets who are expecting to see someone play and they don’t get to see that person play,” Kerr said, via The Athletic’s Anthony Slater. “It’s a brutal part of the business. It’s why I’m going to continue to advocate for 72-game seasons.”
He wanted the schedule shortened by 10 games. This idea, according to Kerr, is the most suitable for the healthy being of the players, though it would affect the team’s revenue.
Kerr said:
“You take 10 games off the schedule, it always feels like with 10 games left in the year everybody’s sort of had it anyways. That creates enough rest where we don’t have to have some of these crazy situations. I think you’d see way fewer games missed from players.”
Notwithstanding this discussion, the Warriors beat the Cavaliers 120–114. They still had some of the best players, including Jordan Poole, who helped the Warriors secure this position.
