Gary Woodland resumes his golf practice after undergoing brain surgery earlier this year

Gary Woodland had brain surgery less than two months ago. Thankfully, all signs point to a speedy recovery despite the athlete describing the procedure as “very hard”.

On Monday, Woodland posted a video of himself playing golf on his social media accounts. It’s definitely fantastic news for the 2019 US Open winner and his family that he moves with strength and grace.

Gary Woodland wrote the following text to go with the video:

“This path has not been easy, but I’m so grateful to be making progress and to everyone for their unwavering love and support. For my family and me, you’ve all helped to ease the process. I want to thank everyone for coming, and I hope to see you all again next year.”

Gary Woodland had surgery on September 18th in order to remove a brain tumor. The majority of the lesion was excised during surgery, as his team stated at the time through X.

In the past, Gary Woodland claimed to his fans that he had been using medicine to cure these lesions since they had been detected some months previously. He ultimately chose to have the tumor surgically removed as this line of treatment did not yield the desired outcomes.

Twelve of Woodland’s sixteen years as a professional were spent on the PGA Tour. The four titles that stand out on his resume the most are the 2011 Transitions Championship, the 2013 Reno-Tahoe Open, the 2018 Waste Management Phoenix Open, and the 2019 US Open.

Woodland participated in 24 PGA Tour tournaments in 2023, finishing with 18 made cuts, two Top 10s, and four Top 25s.
