Former Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki announced her retirement from competitive tennis in 2020. Since then she was working as a commentator for ESPN and doing a great job, decided to be comeback on the court.
On Thursday, Wozniacki announced her comeback on her Instagram post.
Wozniacki said, “Over these past three years away from the game I got to make up for lost time with my family, I became a mother and now have two beautiful children I am so grateful for,”
She added further about having goals and wanting to achieve them when she still has time.
“But I still have goals I want to accomplish. I want to show my kids that you can pursue your dreams no matter your age or role. We decided as a family it’s time. I’m coming back to play and I can’t wait!”
32-year-old Caroline was the No. 1 player in the world at her time and she believes there are some goals she has to achieve it.
She will mark her official entry into the tennis world with Canadian Open in August. asking about how nervous she is about her life-altering, career decision.
She said, “Am I nervous? Not really I’m coming back to something I love. Yes, I’ll be nervous before a match; I’m okay with that. I’m great with that. Can I win the US Open? I think so. Can I win the Australian Open? I think so. That’s why I’m doing this. And I guess we’ll see what happens.”
Caroline will be competing in US Open in New York if all goes well in Canadian Open.
