Former teammate wants Messi back in Barcelona
Sergi Roberto knows Messi is not living his best life in Paris and wants him in Barcelona
The Argentine left Barcelona in the summer of 2021 after the club failed to renew his contract. Since then, Messi has gone on to win his seventh Ballon d’Or but this time in a PSG shirt. His performances at Paris have been nothing short of extraordinary despite the club ultras booing him for the team’s collective failures.
After a 2-0 loss to Rennes on Sunday, Messi walked straight into the tunnel. This has left fans wondering whether he will leave the Parisian club as a free agent this summer.
What did Sergi Roberto have to say?
When asked if the Catalan club will have their prodigal son back, Roberto responded by saying: “With open arms, who is not going to be prepared for Messi’s return? In the end, we don’t want to talk a lot because he, the president, the coach or whoever has to decide, but if it’s because of the players, we are waiting for him now.”
After netting the opener in Barca’s 2-1 Clasico, the Spaniard added at the treatment that Messi has received: “You don’t understand that he is having a good season in Paris, scoring many goals, assisting… Because of the [Champions League] elimination they have taken issue with him, but he is a spectacular player and it’s bad that a player of this level is treated in this way. Here we are going to treat him very well if he comes.”
