Parmelly joined Duke’s football team in 2021 after transferring from Abilene Christian University. He played in 12 games and even started in one, showcasing his skills on the field. Before his time at Duke, Parmelly had also excelled at Abilene Christian, where he served as a team captain and received recognition as an honorable mention All-Southland Conference player in 2018.
Unfortunately, Parmelly’s life took a devastating turn when he was diagnosed with leukemia in February. Josh Cox from Duke Football Talk shared the story of Parmelly’s battle, describing how his loved ones rallied around him to provide support. Despite their best efforts, the intense chemotherapy treatments took a toll on Parmelly, both physically and mentally. After a particularly challenging week of treatment, Kade peacefully passed away on Friday, July 7th.
