Former College Swimmer Criticizes Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe’s Views on Transgender Athletes
A former college swimmer named Riley Gaines recently spoke out on a show called “Fox & Friends” about her disagreement with Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe, two famous members of the US Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT), regarding their opinions on transgender athletes in women’s sports.
Gaines thinks that Morgan and Rapinoe are not being genuine in their support of transgender athletes. She believes they only want to be seen as kind and inclusive, but deep down, they know that their own success in women’s sports wouldn’t have been possible without the separate categories for men and women.
According to Gaines, now that Morgan and Rapinoe have achieved what they wanted in their careers, they don’t seem to care about the impact on girls’ sports. Gaines argues that their actions are more exclusive than inclusive, despite their claims.

A while ago, Rapinoe signed a letter opposing a law called the Protection of Girls and Women in Sports Act, which sparked a bigger conversation about including transgender athletes in sports.
On the other hand, Morgan has expressed her support for transgender kids participating in sports. Morgan believes that everyone should have the chance to play sports, and she thinks it’s sad that this issue has become so politicized, especially considering the well-being of transgender kids.
It’s unlikely that Morgan and Rapinoe will respond directly to Gaines’ criticism. The debate about transgender inclusion in sports continues to generate passionate discussions from different viewpoints.
