Following Bernd Wiesberger’s departure, Martin Kaymer’s LIV Golf Team – Cleeks GC is in transition, with two available seats
Cleeks GC is one of the teams attempting to capitalize on LIV Golf’s current free agency period. The team, led by Martin Kaymer, ended ninth in 2023, with three of its four players ranking below the Top 40.
Cleeks GC has a decent possibility of reforming now that the season is done. Kaymer has already re-signed the team’s top player for 2023, Richard Bland while keeping two positions open.

Both Graeme McDowell and Bernd Wiesberger’s contracts with LIV Golf were terminated. They had the option of managing a new deal for Wisberger, either with Cleeks GC or another team, but he rejected it, and his return to the DP World Tour has already been confirmed.
In the instance of McDowell, there is still no word on his whereabouts. However, the Englishman is one of several choices for Martin Kaymer; thus, it is unclear whether Graeme McDowell will wear the Cleeks’ colors in 2024.
Several high-level athletes are now eligible for free agency in 2023. Such is the situation with Carlos Ortiz (15th), who chose not to return to Fireballs GC, David Puig (31st), who transferred from Torque GC, and Matt Jones (37th), who previously played at Ripper GC.
Ortiz concluded 2023 with four Top 10 finishes, including second place in Tucson. Puig, on the other hand, finished in two Top 10s, including a fourth-place result at Greenbrier. Jones’ best finish was seventh place in Tucson.
Martin Kaymer can also search for “fresh blood” for his Cleeks GC by signing any of the four players who will be joining the circuit through the International Series. The only other name on the list is International Series champion Louis Oosthuizen. The other three will be determined via a qualifying tournament in December of next year.
How did Cleeks GC’s 2023 season go?
Cleeks GC’s results in the 2023 season could have been better. Only one of their four players stood out, and that was Richard Bland, who finished 20th in the individual standings.
The other three members finished outside the Top 40 on a roster of 50 players (only 48 compete in each tournament). Bernd Wiesberger and Graeme McDowell were 41st and 42nd, respectively, with captain Martin Kaymer finishing second to last.
The team’s best finish of the season came in third place at LIV Golf Jeddah. They only had five Top 8 finishes in 13 tournaments (the Top 8 earns team ranking points).
Individually, Richard Bland’s third-place performance at LIV Golf Greenbrier was the team’s best result. Bland also had three solo Top 10 finishes for the team.
Richard Bland was 22nd in the debut season of LIV Golf (2022), Graeme McDowell was 34th, Bernd Wisberger was 39th, and Martin Kaymer was 45th.
