Fans of Elden Ring speculate about possible hints in the game’s DLC logo
FromSoftware’s action role-playing game, Elden Ring, is receiving its first downloadable content (DLC) expansion, titled “Shadow of the Erdtree.” Fans have been eagerly awaiting any information about the game’s first anniversary, and now the DLC has been announced. As a result, players have begun scrutinizing the single image released for any potential hints about the content.
Death Blight Theory
Redsonatnight started a recent discussion about DLC theories on Elden Ring’s subreddit. The player posted an image focusing on the “O” in the word “Shadow” on the DLC logo, suggesting that the spiky bits protruding from each side look like Death Blight. Death Blight is a status effect that can lead to gruesome ways to die in The Lands Between, the game’s setting.
While some have dismissed the theory, others have added to it, suggesting that the person riding a horse in the DLC image is Miquella. If that is accurate, then the idea that Shadow of the Erdtree is a prequel to Elden Ring’s main story might be supported by the Death Blight theory.
Theories and Counter-Theories
Many players have suggested that the DLC takes place before Miquella was in his cocoon at the beginning of the Death Blight in The Lands Between. Others believe that the Erdtree in the image looks like it is being hit with Death Blight, tying Godwyn into the theory. Additionally, some players believe that the “O” in the logo looks like it might have a status effect, which is no accident.
However, others have countered the Death Blight theory, suggesting that the appendages on the “O” look more like lightning or the roots of a tree. Since the DLC is called “Shadow of the Erdtree,” this last theory would make sense.
Elden Ring fans have been eagerly awaiting news about the game’s DLC, and the announcement of “Shadow of the Erdtree” has sparked a flurry of theories and speculation. While some fans believe that the logo holds clues about the content, others are skeptical. Regardless, fans are excited about the upcoming expansion, and it remains to be seen what FromSoftware has in store for them.
