Fans Have Mixed Reactions to ESPN’s ‘Split Screen’ on MNF Doubleheader

On two back-to-back Monday nights, NFL fans got a double dose of football action, but not everyone’s on the same page about it.

Here’s the setup: ABC showed a game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while ESPN broadcasted the Cincinnati Bengals vs. Los Angeles Rams match. To fit both games into the schedule, ABC used a split-screen format, showing both games at once.

Some folks aren’t too thrilled about this. They’d rather watch just one game without the split screen.

College football coach Michael McCarry said, “If I wanted to watch the Bengals and the Rams, I’d change the channel. So please, stop reducing the Eagles to 60% of my TV screen to show me your other channel.”

One fan wasn’t a fan of the split screen either and asked why the NFL scheduled two games on Monday nights in the first place.

Another fan just wanted things to go back to normal and said, “Please don’t do this split screen thing. I don’t care about the Rams/Bengals game.”

A third fan made it clear, “No need for split screen. If you wanna watch that game it’s on ESPN.

Disney might have thought that viewers wanted more action on one screen, like the NFL RedZone channel. But it seems that for some viewers, it’s just too much going on.

Monday Night Football doubleheaders are still kind of new, so ESPN and ABC might make changes based on what fans are saying. Or maybe viewers will get used to the split screen.

In the game results, the Eagles beat the Buccaneers 25-11, and the Bengals won a tough match against the Rams 19-16.
