Explore the Cultural Marvel of ‘Tchia’ with PS Plus
Tchia is an open-world adventure game blending Legend Of Zelda and Disney-esque aesthetics. It’s inspired by New Caledonia, a French territory in the South Pacific, and will be available on March 21 for PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers.
The Setting
To give the game an authentic feel, the development team replicated local biomes, animals, and plants from the area. On top of that, the game includes fully voiced cutscenes in French and Drehu, an indigenous language spoken on the islands. The voice acting and music is also from locals to keep the game authentic.
The Story
Tchia follows a coming-of-age storyline, just like Wind Waker and Moana. The main character leaves her home island after her father is kidnapped by the bad guy’s henchman, Pwi Dua. Along the way she discovers lands she’s never seen and befriends new people to help her on her quest.
Gameplay
Tchia is slow and leisurely, which may be offputting for some. To make it more accessible, it has an auto continue to feature so that you can listen to the music without worrying about the rhythm game part of it. There is also a button that allows you to move on to the next major cutscene. While the game does offer plenty of room for exploration, story-driven players may find it wears thin after a while.
Release Date
Tchia will launch on March 21, 2023, for PC (via Epic Games), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. It’s a launch title on PS Plus. Don’t miss out on this open-world adventure game and its unique cultural references.
