EX Grizzlies Star Reveals Why He Feared Kevin Durant More Than LeBron James Due to Passiveness

The debate about whether or not players fear LeBron James continues to gain momentum, with former NBA player Chandler Parsons adding his perspective. Parsons recently appeared on the show “Run It Back” to discuss his experiences defending James and Kevin Durant during his career.

Parsons acknowledged that defending Durant one-on-one was more challenging than defending James. However, he also noted that players may fear James more in certain situations, such as when he’s charging down the court on a fast break or chasing down opponents to block their shots.

“There’s harder matchups one-on-one,” Parsons said. “When I was playing, I feared guarding Kevin Durant more than I feared guarding LeBron James. Just because of his ability to score in iso, the way he can break you off. The way you can play great defense, he can shoot over you. LeBron is more passive.”

The debate over whether players fear James underscores the complexity of evaluating a player’s impact on the court. While statistics can provide some insight into a player’s skill level, many intangible factors can’t be easily quantified. James is undoubtedly one of the most accomplished players in NBA history, but the question of whether or not he inspires fear in his opponents remains open to interpretation.

“He’s less aggressive, but let’s not get it twisted,” Parson said. “There’s fear when you see this man coming downhill at you or even when you’re going for a layup you know he’s coming behind to block your layup off the backboard, so there’s fear

At the end of the day, it’s clear that both James and Durant are incredibly talented players who present unique challenges to their opponents. While some players may fear one player more than the other, there’s no denying that both are capable of dominating on the court in their way.
