At the 2023 WTA Elite Trophy, Daria Kasatkina easily defeated Magda Linette of Poland in her second group-stage match, winning 6-3, 6-4 earlier on Thursday, October 26. Despite her triumph, which advanced her to the elite event’s semifinals, the Russian nevertheless got a barrage of hate mail on social media.

Additionally, Kasatkina triumphed in her opening match in Zhuhai, beating Barbora Krejčíková, the top seed, in three unpredictable sets.

It seems logical that the 26-year-old was upset over the offensive remarks that were conveyed to her during her on-court competition. The Russian took the offensive remarks and turned them into a collage, which he then posted for public viewing on X, the old Twitter.

Daria Kasatkina said that these kinds of comments were “completely out of control” in the description for her post. She further stressed that even though she had won her previous battle, she had received hate online.

“It’s me, BTW. This is really uncontrollable s**t,” Kasatkina wrote.

In contrast, Daria Kasatkina has had a passable season in 2023. The 26-year-old’s win/loss record for the year is 39-24. Among his best performances have been his runner-up finishes in the WTA 500 events in Adelaide and Eastbourne.

Additionally, Kasatkina finished in the last eight in Montreal, Abu Dhabi, Tokyo, and Palermo and advanced to the semifinals at additional 500-level events held in Zhengzhou and Charleston. Comparing the Russian’s 2023 season to her stellar performance from the previous year, it has been lacklustre.

Daria Kasatkina made it to the Wimbledon quarterfinals and won two WTA championships in 2022. She was able to conclude the year as the eighth-ranked player in the WTA singles rankings, thanks to her achievements.

This week, the World No. 17 hopes to cap off an inconsistent season by competing all the way at the WTA Elite Trophy.
