ESPN to Lay Off 20 On-Air Personalities in Cost-Cutting Move
ESPN is taking steps to reduce its expenses by letting go of 20 on-air personalities, according to a report by sports media insider Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.
The upcoming round of layoffs, set to happen this Friday, will affect well-known NFL, NBA, and ESPN Radio personalities, as stated by Marchand.

However, the network is planning to retain its top-tier personalities like Stephen A. Smith, Scott Van Pelt, Joe Buck, and Troy Aikman, ensuring they won’t be affected by these job cuts. Recently, ESPN also decided to discontinue its morning radio show featuring Max Kellerman, Keyshawn Johnson, and Jay Williams.
The decision to downsize the on-air talent pool was made by ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro, following directives from Disney CEO Bob Iger. This move is part of a broader plan to eliminate 7,000 positions across Disney’s operations.
