ESPN Renews Contract for Legendary Announcer Chris Fowler
Big news from the world of sports broadcasting!
Chris Fowler, who’s been a familiar voice on ESPN for almost 40 years, isn’t going anywhere. ESPN just announced that Fowler has signed a new contract to keep working with them for several more years.
Starting this fall, Fowler will keep doing what he’s known for: talking about sports during live broadcasts. But there’s something new too. He’ll be announcing five NFL games – that’s American football – in addition to his regular job.
During these five NFL games, Fowler will be joined by two other people, Dan Orlovsky and Louis Riddick, who will help explain what’s happening on the field. There’s also Laura Rutledge, who will be on the sidelines, talking to coaches and players to give us even more information.
But wait, there’s more! Fowler will also keep doing what he’s been doing on Saturdays – talking about college football. He’ll work with his friends Kirk Herbstreit and Holly Rowe. They’ll cover the big college football games, including the big championship game in January.

And if you’re a tennis fan, don’t worry. Fowler will still be the main voice for big tennis tournaments like the Grand Slam.
Fowler has been with ESPN since 1986. He got his start by hosting a show about college football. He’s even coming back soon to talk about college football again. He, along with Herbstreit and Rowe, will start on August 31st.
But there’s more! Fowler’s first NFL game this season will be on September 18th. He’ll talk about a game between two NFL teams, the Saints and the Panthers. This game will be on a Monday night, and Fowler will have his teammates Orlovsky, Riddick, and Rutledge with him.
So, in simple words, Chris Fowler is sticking around at ESPN. He’ll keep talking about sports, college football, tennis, and even some NFL games.
