Erling Haaland gets injured amid title race
Man City’s title challenge hampered as Haaland gets injured
The Norwegian, Erling Haaland scored yet another hat-trick in the 6-0 demolition of Burnley in the FA Cup. However, he later talked about pain in his groin. He is now sidelined from the friendly fixtures against Spain and Georgia.
Currently with the Norway camp, the striker will fly back to Manchester in order to get the treatment at the club’s facilities.
Now, Manchester City’s chances of beating Arsenal and winning the Premier League overall have been hampered. The Citizens currently stand 7 points below Arsenal with 11 games left to play. Thus, losing Haaland was the worse thing that could have happened to Manchester City.
What did the Norwegian FA say?
The Norwegian FA statement read: “Erling Braut Haaland had some pain in his groin after the match against Burnley. We hoped that this was just a familiarity that would carry over to Saturday. After doing tests and examinations yesterday it became clear that he will not make it to the games against Spain and Georgia.”
“It is better that he receives medical follow-up at the club”, says the national team doctor Ola Sand. “Haaland thus travels home from the national team meeting. Erling took it hard when he realized that he could not fight for the team.”
