During his Week 10 ManningCast interview, Patrick Mahomes reveals his superstitious underwear, saying, “My wife Brittany got it for me”
As the legitimate starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs for the past six seasons, Patrick Mahomes has achieved every conceivable individual and team accolade. Even though he is among the greatest in his field, he has performed well thanks to a few routines.
In the Netflix sports documentary “Quarterback,” he recently talked about his pregame ritual, which included wearing suits for away games and offering prayers by the goalpost. But he wears underwear his wife bought him because he is superstitious.
Every game, Patrick Mahomes sports the same undies.
The two-time NFL Most Valuable Player has time to participate in the Week 10 Monday Night Football Manningcast since the Kansas City Chiefs are off. Dov Kleiman, a writer for BroBible NFL, tweeted a question sent to fellow Super Bowl winner Eli Manning:
“You know I enjoy a good superstition, but couldn’t you just eat the same food before the game? Does the red underwear have to be the culprit?
Mahomes responded.
“Well, you know, first, my wife, Brittany, got them for me. So, I’m not throwing you all down, but I have to wear them, you know. But, at the same time, I threw them on the first season. We had a good season that season. I only wear them for game day, though.
“They’re not as exhausted as the unpleasant ones. I tidy them. At the very least, I wash them sometimes. I can’t wash them if we’re having a hot run; I have to keep it going. I’ll maintain the superstition as long as we are winning football games.

If so, Mahomes may have transported that pair of undies to Frankfurt, Germany, for their Week 9 matchup with the Miami Dolphins. In that game, the Chiefs prevailed, and Mahomes completed 20 passes for 185 yards and two scores.
Mahomes also has another superstitious ritual, which he revealed in “Quarterback,” which involves collecting a pass from the backup quarterback and avoiding stepping on any lines or logos during the pregame.
Patrick Mahomes will face a challenging opponent in Week 11.
After 10 weeks, the Chiefs lead the American Football Conference in record. It will be difficult to secure another playoff berth, though. They will play the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of Super Bowl LVII after their bye.
The Eagles, at 8-1, own the best record in the NFC, along with Kansas City. With 30 sacks, Philadelphia’s defense is tied for the third-highest total in the league. The Eagles rank seventh in terms of passing yards allowed per game (257), but allowing the fewest running yards per game (66).
Patrick Mahomes is prepared to take advantage of that detail when they meet the Eagles at Arrowhead Stadium for their Monday Night Football matchup the following week.
