As per reports, Atletico Madrid’s long-time coach Diego Simeone is set to leave by the end of the season.

As per Journalist Paco Garcia Caridad’s statement to El Chiringuito, Simeone will not willing to continue as Atletico’s manager next season. As per a report from The Sun, It is also believed that he has spoken to [President] Gil Marin about a January exit.

This season has been one of Atletico’s worst starts to the league under Simeone. The Argentine coach’s recent upset against Barcelona in a 1-0 La Liga encounter worsened the situation.

As per reports from the Spanish publication, Simeone’s exit from the club might influence Joao Felix to extend his stay at the club. The former has been criticized for his defensive antics which leads to the restriction of the forward’s capabilities.

Speaking about the Portuguese, Simeone said, “We have differences, but I have always looked for the best for the club. To squeeze the maximum out of everyone until the last day that I am there or those who have to be there.”

He also added “(Felix) is important for the team. If he transmits to us what we saw in the World Cup, he will be very important. He has conditions and talent and the team needs his qualities.”

On Friday, a report from Athletic claimed that Felix’s entourage had reached a verbal agreement regarding a loan move to Chelsea. The Blues are ready to pay a loan fee of €11million (£9.68m), a reduced amount from what Atletico initially asked for.
