Demonstrating Latest Unreal Engine 5 Tools with Rivian R1T Demo
Video games have come a long way in recent years, with technological advances making it possible to create increasingly realistic and immersive experiences. Epic Games is taking things to the next level with Unreal Engine 5, the latest iteration of their popular game engine. The tech was first publicly demoed in 2020, and gamers have been eagerly awaiting its debut ever since. After being showcased during Epic’s recent State of Unreal keynote at GDC 2023, it looks like UE5 is one step closer to being available to the public.
The Matrix Awakens and Fortnite Showcase the Capabilities of UE5
The first two games to make use of Unreal Engine 5’s features were The Matrix Awakens and Fortnite. Both games have showcased the capabilities of UE5, and gamers have been highly impressed with the quality of graphics and level of detail. With UE5, developers can create incredibly realistic environments and character models, bringing gaming to a whole new level.
MetaHuman Animator Makes Facial Capture Accessible to Indie Developers
During the GDC keynote, Epic also revealed their new MetaHuman Animator. This tool makes facial capture accessible to indie developers, allowing them to use an iPhone instead of dedicated equipment to capture facial performances. The result is highly realistic facial animations that look just as good as those created by professional studios. The MetaHuman Animator will be released this summer.
Substrate Shading System and Procedural Content Generation Tools
Epic also showcased some of the enhancements coming to Unreal Engine 5.2, including the Substrate shading system and a set of Procedural Content Generation tools. The Substrate system allows artists to layer different materials to create detailed and realistic textures, while the Procedural Content Generation tools make it possible to create expansive levels with minimal assets.
Unreal Engine 5 Games to be Released Later this Year
The wait for UE5 games is almost over, with Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl set to be released later this year. Lords of the Fallen and Black Myth: Wukong are two other UE5 projects that have been in development for some time, but don’t have release dates yet.
Unreal Engine 5 is set to revolutionize the gaming industry, and gamers are eagerly awaiting the release of UE5 games. With the MetaHuman Animator and other enhancements, Epic Games is taking gaming to the next level. We can’t wait to see what UE5 games will be released in the coming months!
