De Ligt was praised for clearance as Bayern tore apart PSG
Bayern knocked out Neymar-less PSG
Julian Nagelsmann’s Bayern made sure they ended PSG’s champions League dream as the Germans won 3-0 on aggregate against the Parisians. Last night was the second leg of the last 16 clashes as Eric Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry found the back of the net.
However, PSG had two great chances to score if not for Alphonso Davies’ pushing Messi off of the ball while De Ligt cleared Vitinha’s effort from the line.
It was from an error from winter arrival Sommer, who lost the ball in his own box. The Swiss international went on to joke that he owes De Ligt a treat after his heroics.
What did Sommer have to say?
Sommer told DAZN, “I will leave a truck filled with Swiss chocolate on his doorstep! The problem was, I had my solution to pass to [Josip] Stanisic but it was closed, then I had no more solution,” he added.
“It was unbelievable what De Ligt was doing there, of course, I’m not happy with [my part] in the scene. It’s amazing how he thinks and saves me. If that goes wrong, then this game looks very different.”
Words from Donnarumma
On the opposite end of the pitch, Gianluigi Donnarumma called the loss a “disappointing” one as PSG crashed out before the quarterfinals for the second consecutive season.
While talking to Canal Plus, he said, “There’s a lot of disappointment in the dressing room.”
“In the Champions League, the small details make the difference. We could have done better in the first half, but we didn’t. We’re all annoyed and disappointed.”
