David Warner Aims to Add to England’s Woes in Cricket World Cup

Australia opener David Warner, who is in red-hot form wants to add more misery to struggling England, when they will lock horns against them on Saturday in Ahmedabad.

“It’d be nice to pile on England’s misery. But they’re the teams that are the most dangerous when there’s nothing to lose,” Warner was quoted as saying by Cricket.com.au.

“They’ve got some very, very (high) quality players and we have to respect it. They bat to 11 and their bowling unit is very good.”

Warner turned 37 last week, has scored 413 runs, including two centuries and the 37-year-old is batting is as destructive as ever and is tournament’s second-leading run scorer.

“Everyone keeps writing me off,” said Warner.

“I’m doing as well as I can, I’m just trying to go out there and start as well as I can up front in the first 10 (overs). If I get in, I try and make the most of it.

“It’s also awesome to have Heady and Mitch there as well, because it allows that pressure to keep being put back onto the opposition.”

Australia lost their first two games but now they’ve won four in a row. They’re becoming top contenders for the semifinals.
