D’Angelo Russell’s Position in Lakers, Chris Paul Rumors
D’Angelo Russell, an American Basketball Player for the Lakers is One of the best players in NBA history. That said he had a hard time in the last season, NBA 2k22 and for this season, his fate is still not set.
In the NBA trade deadline, Russell and Los Angeles Lakers both played an important role in the team’s midseason turnaround.
They didn’t start off well and were one of the worst teams. But the Lakers managed to make it to the playoffs, and not just that, they went all the way to the Western Conference Finals.
Unfortunately, during the Western Conference Finals against the Denver Nuggets, Russell’s performance wasn’t good enough. He only scored an average of 6.3 points, shooting 32.3 percent from the field, and a low 13.3 percent from three-point range.
Russell’s bad performance even raised concerns about whether the team would keep him for the upcoming season but it also caused a strain in his relationship with LeBron James. Now that there are rumors that Pheonix Suns might part ways with Chris Paul, the Lakers are one of the teams who are interested in taking him in.
Now the question is how does Paul’s potential availability impact Los Angeles’ plans for Russell?
“Overall, when you look at the landscape, when you talk to team executives, they feel like the Lakers could be in the market for a point guard,” NBA insider Shams Charania said this week.
“When you think about the available point guards — Fred VanVleet, Kyrie Irving. Their best bet might be to bring back D’Angelo Russell.”
It’s not easy to see how much Paul would change the situation. Although he has a great reputation in the NBA, he is already 38 years old. In recent years, he has been getting injured frequently, partly because he is getting older.
Even if the Lakers decide to add Paul to their team, they can’t depend on him to be their main point guard all the time.
This isn’t all, The lakers have one other thing to worried about. Dennis Schroder is also being pursued by two other teams. This means that the Lakers could face the real problem of losing all their good point guards.
Well, whatever happens, let’s wait and see how they perform in the next season.
