Dak Prescott recalled how his mother reprimanded him over INTs

Dak Prescott has faced his fair share of criticism over the years, but he was conditioned to do so even before he entered the NFL. According to Yahoo Sports, his late mother, Peggy Prescott, would chastise him, his siblings, and friends for making mistakes.

Prescott was raised in a trailer park by a single mother who, although working long hours, always had enough in the tank to push the next generation.

She’d implore Tad Prescott to “hit somebody” and offensive lineman Jace to “stop playing pitty-pat with” his opponents. Peggy would cry, “Don’t practice that s***!” after interceptions in practice, so Dak was not immune to criticism.

“If you can’t run with the big dogs, stay on the porch,” she told Prescott after he was knocked down and came home weeping one day when he was younger.

What became Dak Prescott’s mother? What happened to her?

Peggy Prescott, Dak Prescott’s mother, died in November 2013 after a lengthy fight with colorectal cancer. In 2023, her son still mentions her. Fans will see him pointing up; he’s pointing at her, paying homage to his mother.

Dak Prescott is on the rise after a shaky start.

While quarterbacks like Brock Purdy spent the early games putting up impressive numbers, Prescott started slowly. He scored five touchdowns and three interceptions at the end of Week 5. Fans were concerned that they might see a 2022 version of the quarterback who led the league in interceptions.

Dak Prescott’s Week 8 performance against the Los Angeles Rams, however, altered everything, as his arm launched a flurry of touchdowns. He passed for four touchdowns, one interception, and 304 yards on Oct. 29. Without the help of a breakout run game, he completed 80.6% of his throws.

Tony Pollard only had 12 carries for 53 yards in the game, indicating that the quarterback was the primary cause of the team’s 43-point outburst. It was a must-win game for Matthew Stafford and the Rams, who were 3-4, so the Cowboys received their best chance.

Prescott has thrown for 10 touchdowns and five interceptions entering Week 9 after having six touchdowns and four interceptions in Week 8. With another game like that, the Cowboys quarterback might officially put fans and possibly his mother’s spirit at peace.
