Dabo Swinney Notices Unfortunate Program History After Clemson Vs Duke

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney noticed a very unfortunate program history after Duke beat the Tigers in week 1.

According to Swinney, the Tigers never lost when gaining at least 200 passing and rushing yards apiece. After the Tigers vs Blue Devils, head coach told the reporters about the oddity of Monday’s loss.

Via Action Network, Dabo Swinney said,

“Clemson was 108-0 in program history when rushing for 200+ yards AND passing for 200+ yards in a single game”

The Tigers were 58-0 during Swinney’s tenure when hitting those marks and 108-0 all-time. But after Monday’s game lost Tigers were 108-1.

In Monday’s game, the Tigers had 422 yards in total more than the Blue Devils’ 374 rushing yards. Despite that Clemson lost to Duke with a 28-7.

According to the Clemson Tigers, the program is 142-9 when gaining more yards than the opponent and 76-3 when rushing for at least 200 yards since Swinney took the job in 2008.

During the game, Clemson missed two field goals, including a block after failing to punch in a touchdown with first-and-goal at the one. The Tigers then lost two fumbles inside the red zone, and Cade Klubnik threw an interception with five minutes remaining.

After the game, Swinney called an “incredibly disappointing” outcome “the weirdest game I’ve ever been a part of.”

Via ESPN, Swinney said, “It’s almost indescribable what I just saw. It’s incredibly frustrating when you had so much opportunity. … It’s routine stuff. The basics. The fundamentals. Basic, basic stuff.”

We suggest Clemson Tigers to stop reel over Duke’s lost and focus more on Staurday’s game at Charleston Southern.
