Curry Shows His Gratitude Towards Biden For Bringing Brittney Griner Home
Steph Curry thanked President Joe Biden for bringing Brittney Griner, the WNBA player, home.
He gave a speech standing alongside head coach Steve Kerr.
He expressed his gratitude to the president and vice president for inviting them to the White House. He said that he could never take this for granted.
On the Warriors’ visit to the White House, Curry said, “great opportunity for us from the basketball community to thank President Biden and his staff for all their hard work and diligence on getting Brittney Griner home.”
On Tuesday, the Golden State Warriors commemorated their NBA championship at the White House. The excelling champions met Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. This is the first time in seven years that a celebration has taken place since Donald Trump, the former president, left office.
Curry On Griner’s Return To Home
The WNBA player returned to Texas after 10 months, when the US-Russia prisoner swap ended. Griner was detained for keeping the vape cartridges and was sentenced to serve nine years in prison. Joe Biden rescued her from the Russian prison.
Curry stated:
“It means a lot to know that she’s here, and all the work that went on behind the scenes to make that a reality. So I just want to say thank you.”
He also mentioned that he got a chance to reflect on their championship last year.
The Warriors were among the people who supported the release of Brittney Griner. On Oct. 18, the day when Griner turned 32, Curry called for her release during the Golden State Warriors championship ring ceremony.
