Ana Maria Markovic, the soccer sensation from Croatia who plays as a forward for Switzerland’s Grasshopper club, has caught everyone’s attention on the internet with her recent set of amazing photos from her trip to Portugal.

At just 23 years old, Ana Maria has an incredible soccer journey. She started playing when she was just 14 and quickly realized she had a natural talent. In an interview with Croatia Week last year, she explained that watching famous soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo really inspired her.

“I started playing because of the motivation I felt when I saw that women’s football was growing more and more. Also because of the motivation generated by watching some men’s football matches, especially when Cristiano Ronaldo was playing, obviously,” she said. “I played in some little-known amateur clubs. At first it started as a form of a hobby, but then thanks to all the support I received from my family and my environment, I was improving. I was always a forward, it was what I liked the most – scoring goals.”

Ana Maria has been taking a break from playing lately due to a knee injury. But that hasn’t stopped her from enjoying her time off.
