Chiefs OL Laurent Duvernay-Tardif Retires From NFL At 32
Canadian native Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, former Chiefs offensive lineman announced his retirement on his social media account.
On Thursday, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif shared the news via Instagram post that he is retiring from the NFL. Veteran Chiefs player is only 32.
Former Chiefs Gaurd Laurent wrote this long heart-touching caption for his NFL fans in his post. Duvernay-Tardif wrote,
“I’ve had the chance to play in the NFL for 9 years and even today, I sometimes can’t believe I was able to experience this adventure. Being a professional athlete is a privilege as well as an extremely enriching human and personal experience. The victories, losses and injuries have all been moments to learn how to win and lose as a team while managing a wide range of emotions.”
Laurent mentioned that this is not the end of the road, and his journey will continue with the other aspects of his life. He also shared that he is perfectly content with his decision and has no regrets.
“Although closing the door on this stage in my life will be difficult, I am serene in this decision and I walk away feeling accomplished. I see this incredible experience not as an end, but a stepping stone to other projects.”
Duvernay-Tardif started his NFL journey after he was drafted by the Chiefs in 2014 in the sixth round. Before joining Kansas City he played college football at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
Duvernay-Tardif has his fair share in the Chief’s 2019 Super Bowl victory. He missed his 2020, season while he was working at the remote care facility in Montreal during a pandemic.
After that, he was traded to the Jets in 2021 and appeared in 13 games.
