Carlos Boozer's Son Cameron Boozer Named Gatorade's National Boys Basketball Player of the Year

A 15-year-old basketball prodigy has snagged one of the most prestigious high school basketball awards in the country: Cameron Boozer, the son of former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer, has been named Gatorade’s National Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

Boozer’s impressive track record on the court and in the classroom has earned him recognition, with past winners including basketball legends like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. However, Boozer admits he was taken aback by the surprise presentation of the award, which was made by NBA star Kevin Love during a gym session at Christopher Columbus High School in South Florida.

“I was definitely surprised,” Boozer told Yahoo Sports. “We were told we were getting measured for our [state championship] rings, and then Kevin Love just walked in with the trophy, so the whole thing was kind of crazy.”

Boozer’s outstanding performance on the court this season saw him and his twin brother Cayden lead their team to a 26–4 record and secure the Class 7A state championship. Boozer himself achieved impressive stats, averaging 21.1 points, 11.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 2 blocks per game. And, as if that wasn’t enough, he’s also maintained a weighted 4.81 GPA.

Although he’s still just a sophomore, Boozer is already considered one of the top recruits in the 2025 class, and his National Player of the Year award has only cemented his place as a rising star in the world of basketball. With his incredible talent and work ethic, it’s hard to imagine a better start to a basketball career than this.
