After defeating Daniil Medvedev at the ATP Finals in Turin, Spanish tennis talent Carlos Alcaraz paid tribute to Portuguese soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

Alcaraz, who is presently rated No. 2 in the ATP rankings, defeated Daniil Medvedev 6-4 and 6-4 on Friday to progress to the Nitto ATP Finals semi-finals. This was Alcaraz’s third victory against Medvedev in five meetings. The last time the two met was in the semi-finals of the US Open when Medvedev won in four sets.

Tennis TV shared a video on X (previously Twitter) on Friday showing Alcaraz signing the camera and adding “siuuu!!!” beneath his signature.

Ronaldo’s distinctive celebration, which includes a leap, landing with arms and legs wide open, and a triumphant “siuuu” yell after scoring a goal, popularized “siuuu.”

Carlos Alcaraz is a soccer fanatic. During the FIFA Women’s World Cup in August, he wrote on the camera lens in favor of the Spanish women’s national team:

“Let’s go, ladies. For the sake of the entire globe! “Spain, live!” – wrote Alcaraz.

On Saturday, Carlos Alcaraz will meet Novak Djokovic in the ATP Finals semi-finals.

Novak Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, will face Carlos Alcaraz in the Nitto ATP Finals semi-final on Saturday.

This season, Carlos Alcaraz has won six ATP championships, including the London/Queen’s Club, Madrid Masters, Barcelona Open, ATP Buenos Aires, Indian Wells, and Wimbledon Grand Slam.

Novak Djokovic, on the other side, has won six championships throughout the 2023 season. He won his 24th Grand Slam singles championship in the US Open, tying Margaret Court’s record. Djokovic has also won the Australian and French Opens. The 36-year-old also won the Paris Masters, the Western and Southern Open, and the Adelaide International 1.

Djokovic and Alcaraz have met three times this year and four times overall; their head-to-head record is now knotted at 2-2.

Carlos Alcaraz defeated him in the semi-finals of the ATP Madrid Masters in 2022, winning 6-7(5), 7-5, 7-6(5). They met again in the 2023 French Open semi-finals, with Djokovic winning with a score of 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1.
