Carlos Alcaraz declares he will play for Team Europe in Berlin in 2024 and make his Laver Cup debut

Carlos Alcaraz has declared his intention to compete in the 2024 Laver Cup, which will take place in Berlin, Germany. He’ll speak on behalf of Team Europe.

In September of this year, Team World easily defeated Team Europe in Vancouver, securing their 2022 championship. Team World, captained by John McEnroe, easily trounced Team Europe, winning 13-2.

Team Europe, which comprised Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud, Hubert Hurkacz, Gael Monfils, and others, was dominated by players like Felix Auger-Aliassime, Ben Shelton, Tommy Paul, Frances Tiafoe, Taylor Fritz, and others. The only member of Team Europe to win points was Ruud.

Looking for a chance at redemption, Team Europe will compete in the next Laver Cup. The captain of Team Europe is optimistic that having a home advantage in Berlin in 2024 would help his team regain its glory. Carlos Alcaraz ranked second in the world, is a huge boost to their prospects of taking revenge on Team World.

The Spaniard just announced his arrival, saying:

“My name is Carlos Alcaraz, and in September, I will be competing for Team Europe. Being one of those men who represents Europe means a lot. I’m thrilled to be participating in this competition since I really wanted to.”

The 20-year-old promised to perform to the best of his abilities in order to help Team Europe win a sixth Laver Cup championship.

“We’re up against some formidable opponents. World Team. Great players. We must give it our all next year. I’ll do all in my power to regain the crown. As we attempt to reclaim the Laver Cup championship in Team Europe territory, we’re excited to meet all of the supporters in Berlin,” Carlos Alcaraz remarked.
